Wonder Awhile Nursery School (WANS) is a child’s world, offering meaningful educational experiences suited to the maturity level and physical development of our students. Play is a child’s natural way of learning (it is his work). Our nursery school creates a challenging environment with materials and activities geared to the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development of young children. Our goal is that your child's early experiences here prepare him for a love of learning that carries over to his educational journey ahead.
Accepting Registrations
Wonder Awhile Nursery School is accepting registrations for the upcoming School year. Children who are 3, 4, or 5 years old are invited to attend. Occasionally there are openings during the current school year. Monday Morning Playgroup
Wonder Awhile Nursery School will be offering a Monday Morning Playgroup hopefully in the Fall. It will run from 9:30 – 11:00 on Mondays following the Winthrop Public School Calendar. This program is FREE for any child - birth to three years old with a parent. Well-behaved older siblings are welcome! Please call the office at (207) 377-6111 for more information.

Our Philosophy
Wonder Awhile Nursery School believes children are unique individuals who learn through creative play. We believe children grow when opportunities are provided to develop social, emotional, language, cognitive, and motor skills. We believe this growth develops in an environment where nurturing adults intentionally encourage peer interactions, assist with problem-solving, guide conflict resolution, and support using developmentally appropriate materials. We believe families, staff, caring adults, and the community can work together to support children as they grow. Wonder Awhile Nursery School is a happy place full of wonder and joy for a lifelong love of learning.
