Fundraising

Fundraising is a central component of Wonder Awhile Nursery School. Staff, families, Parent-Teacher Organization, and church members actively participate in various fundraisers each school year. Fundraisers help support the purchase of curriculum supplies, pay for field trips, and purchase new classroom games and outside equipment. Funds are also raised to purchase wood chips to keep our playground safe and to assist in keeping tuition low so nursery school is affordable for all area children. Staff and Parent-Teacher Organization members determine which fundraisers will be conducted each year.

Village Candle Sale

Village Candle is a Made in Maine Company located in Wells. They offer a small sampling of scents for us to sell. This sale generally takes place in early Fall with candles being delivered by mid-October. Families receive order forms, ask family and friends to place orders collect the money and return the order forms to school by a certain date. Village Candle then fills the orders and Wonder Awhile teachers then drive down to pick up the candles. Orders are sent home with students for personal delivery. Village Candle generously allows us to keep 50 percent of our total sales.

Christmas Fair

In October Christmas Wreath Pre Order forms are sent home for school families to sell traditionally or uniquely decorated wreaths to their family and friends. Wreaths are decorated by staff and parents on the Wednesday and Thursday prior to the first Saturday in December to be ready for our Annual Christmas Fair. The fair takes place on the first Saturday in December from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. And is open to the public. Folks visiting the fair can purchase baked goods, lunch, and gently used toys in Santa's Workshop. The fair also has items, gift cards, and services donated by local merchants for folks to place bids. The highest bidders on Silent Auction items pick up and pay for their belongings that afternoon. This Christmas Fair is a fantastic fundraiser for families to work together to support the school.

 Performance and Basket Auction

Over the past several years we have enjoyed working with our children to provide a public performance held upstairs in the sanctuary. Children have retold stories and nursery rhymes in past years. It is a wonderful time for children to learn public speaking and performing in front of people skills in a safe and nurturing environment. Children also learn audience participation skills. The pure joy seen on multi-generational families’ faces as their child is “on stage” is priceless. Before and after the performance, families can bid on individually-themed baskets as part of this fundraiser. All baskets are paid for and taken home at the end of the evening. Sample baskets may include taco meal, spaghetti meal, movie night, a day at the beach, cleaning supplies, cupcake basket, and many others.

Other Fundraisers

Other fundraisers may include Pampered Chef, Scentsy products, Sweet Tooth Fudge, Usborne Books, and a Homemade Family Meal. We are proud to support our enterprising families who work at home businesses.
